• The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the EU and Vietnam was ratified by the European Parliament on 12 February. The Vietnamese National Assembly is expected to ratify it in the coming months so that it can enter into force in summer 2020.
  • In the short-term, the FTA will represent +EUR1.3bn of additional exports per year for EU exporters to Vietnam, and +EUR2.4bn for Vietnamese companies exporting to the EU.
  • The top EU sectors that will benefit the most are agrifood, energy and machinery. For Vietnam, the top sectors will be agrifood, electronics and textiles.
