The number of protectionist measures affecting trade worldwide stands at a high but almost stable level. A major exception to this trend is the US, which has brought 81 new measures so far this year, more than a fourth of the 300 worldwide. 16 of these protectionist measures were aimed at China, double the number for the whole of 2016.
